Indonesian Leader Prabowo Makes First Pakistan Visit
Prabowo, traveling with a senior delegation of ministers and top officials, was welcomed at Noor Khan air base in Rawalpindi by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
This marks Prabowo’s first trip to Pakistan since assuming office last year. His predecessor, Joko Widodo, was the last Indonesian leader to visit in 2018.
During the visit, Prabowo is scheduled to hold delegation-level talks with Sharif and meet with Zardari, Gen. Asim Munir, the army chief, and the chief of the Defense Forces, a statement from Islamabad's Foreign Ministry said.
Officials from both nations will explore a broad agenda to enhance Pakistan-Indonesia relations, with discussions set to cover trade, investment, defense, health, IT, climate, education, culture, and cooperation at regional and global levels.
Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed during the trip.
The visit also coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two largest Muslim-majority nations.
Bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan reached $3.3 billion from January to October 2025, with palm oil accounting for the bulk of Indonesian exports, according to official trade data.
